UP 2 US - 3 PART SHORT FILM SERIES
TRT 38:00
Presented by the UCLA Art & Global Health Center and UCLA Prison Education Program, "Up to Us" is a heartwarming and thought-provoking short romantic film that follows a group of young LGBTQ+ adults navigate their sexuality and identity while exploring consent, personal boundaries, and childhood traumas.

Under the terms of the 2016 Healthy Youth Act, the State of California requires comprehensive sexual health education for all high schoolers. However, youth in Los Angeles County juvenile detention centers and in underserved communities are not guaranteed to have access to such vital information.

Written by screenwriter Francisco Aviles Pino with input from nine formerly incarcerated and justice system-impacted writing fellows, our goal is to provide entertaining, culturally relevant sexual health education in spaces where access to this information may not otherwise be readily available.
DIRECTED BY CHLOË DE CARVALHO and produced by Katja Kulenkampff.
